Join Richmond District VPA for a Discussion with Filmmaker Brian Bullock on Writing, Financing, Producing, and making his political Documentary: A National Ovation to L. Douglas Wilder

Social History Documentary Writer, Producer, and Director Brian Bullock shares his knowledge on documentary production and funding focusing on his recent political documentary on the historic election and life of the nation’s first elected black governor, Virginia Governor L. Douglas Wilder. The film is called: “A National Ovation to L. Douglas Wilder.” 

Brian has written, produced, and directed award winning film including the Virginia PBS documentary about college tennis champion Roland McDaniel (Bringing Home the Bacon: The Roland McDaniel Story). He served as Producer on the Smithsonian Channel/Story House Productions documentary, Escape to the Great Dismal Swamp. He is currently the host and producer of the Virginia PBS program, "Hidden History with Brian Bullock."

Brian continues to stay close to his roots in social services by producing documentary films addressing various community and social issues.



Brian earned his BS degree from Virginia Union University in 1991 and his MA in Producing for Film and Video from American University in Washington, DC. He is the winner of the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award, five Telly Awards and has been nominated for four regional Emmy Awards.
