More about Jesse

Before directing the Warner Bros./Morgan Creek comedy motion picture "Juwanna Mann" starring Vivica A. Fox and Miguel Nunez and "The Last Punch - Muhammad Ali Story," American film director Jesse Vaughan began his career at WTVR-TV6 in Richmond, VA. He directed the local news programming and produced his first television show at 19. Vaughan later directed nine nationally syndicated educational documentaries distributed to PBS stations across America entitled Fourth R: Rights.

At 22, Vaughan took a job with NBC, where he would spend more than a decade working on programs such as:

  • The Jesse Jackson Show
  • America's Black Forum
  • Meet the Press
  • NBC Nightly News
  • The Today Show
  • Charlie Rose Show

During that time, he also directed WRC-TV News Center 4's 5:00 p.m. news show and placed number one for the first time in more than ten years.

"Watching Jesse direct

is like watching a composer

conduct an orchestra."

- Quincy Jones

Vaughan went on to direct the acclaimed sketch comedy series, "In Living Color," starring Jim Carey, Jamie Fox, and David Alan Grier. His subsequent adventures included directing music videos for the likes of 'NSync, featuring Justin Timberlake, and working on music documentaries for MTV Networks, including music specials on Rod Stewart, Stevie Wonder, Paula Abdul, Melissa Etheridge, and Steve Winwood.

Vaughn also got the opportunities to direct commercials for Domino's Pizza and Kmart, along with show openings for NBC's Barcelona Olympics in Spain.

Jesse has received 64 Emmy Award Nominations throughout his career, of which he has garnered 36. He is currently the Chief Marketing & Communications Officer at Richard Bland College of William & Mary, where he works to create commercials and documentaries that influence the next generation to realize the power of higher education.

Jesse travels between Los Angeles and Virginia and maintains a residence in Petersburg, VA.
