1186 to Omaha is a documentary about the University of Virginia's 2015 NCAA Baseball Championship. The film tells the story of the up and down season that eventually culminated in an improbable national championship. 1186 to Omaha premiered on January 18, 2020, at the Paramount Theatre in Charlottesville before 900 people. Disney/ESPN agreed to a two-year distribution agreement and ran the program nearly 30 times on the ACC Network in 2020. It continued to be distributed in 2021 and is available through Disney/ESPN Streaming. New viewing agreements are in the works for another two years, and all rights to NCAA Tournament Footage have now been secured on all platforms worldwide, for perpetuity.
About Curtis:
Curtis left a career in banking to began a 19-year career in Public Media. In 1999 he became the CFO at Commonwealth Public Broadcasting. In 2006, Curtis became President & CEO and served until September 2018. Under his leadership, the organization expanded both television and radio operations. He led efforts to raise more than $182 million in capital. After retiring from Public Media, Curtis worked to produce 1186 to Omaha raising over $350,000, securing worldwide rights on all platforms into perpetuity for NCAA footage, and developing a distribution arrangement with Disney/ESPN.
